The professional business directory for Dubai & UAE
How B2B Dubai selects businesses

A more rigorous way to discover Dubai businesses.

B2B Dubai is not designed to be the largest directory. It is designed to be a more useful one. Every business considered for inclusion goes through a structured qualification process combining public reputation data, statistical analysis, category-specific signals and a final editorial review.

Our methodology

Not every highly rated business is equally reliable.

A star rating is useful, but it does not tell the full story. A 4.6 rating built over several years, supported by hundreds of consistent reviews and strong recent feedback, carries a different level of confidence from the same rating based on a small or highly volatile sample. Our methodology is designed to capture that difference.

01

Quality before quantity

We prioritise businesses that demonstrate credible, sustained performance rather than simply maximising the number of listings.

02

Context matters

A strong logistics company, accounting firm, clinic and fit-out contractor should not be judged by exactly the same operational signals.

03

Human judgement remains important

Data helps us shortlist. Editorial review helps us decide whether a business is genuinely useful and relevant to B2B Dubai users.

The B2B Score

A 100-point framework built around reliability.

Each qualifying business is assessed using a weighted model. The score is designed to balance public reputation with the confidence we can reasonably place in that reputation and the factors that matter within each business category.

100

Maximum B2B Score

The score is comparative, not absolute. It helps identify stronger candidates within the same market and category rather than claiming that one number can capture every dimension of a business.

What the algorithm analyses

Six dimensions behind the score.

The model is built to distinguish between popularity and dependable quality. Below is the type of information that may contribute to each dimension.

25%

1. Reputation

Reputation captures the strength of the public quality signal. Rather than reading the headline rating in isolation, we consider how that rating is supported by the available review base.

  • Average Google rating after minimum qualification
  • Review volume relative to comparable businesses
  • Distribution of positive, neutral and negative experiences
  • Repeated praise around service quality, professionalism, value or delivery
  • Sector-specific reputation indicators where relevant
20%

2. Consistency

Strong businesses tend to deliver a repeatable experience. We therefore analyse whether positive performance is broad and sustained, or whether the overall rating hides significant volatility.

  • Variation between review scores
  • Frequency of one-star and two-star outliers
  • Recurring positive and negative themes
  • Consistency across longer time periods
  • Evidence of recurring operational issues such as delays, poor communication or billing concerns
20%

3. Recent Experience

A business can change significantly over time. Management, staffing, service levels, premises and operating processes can all improve or deteriorate. Recent experience therefore receives a meaningful weighting.

  • Recent review trend versus historical performance
  • Customer sentiment over the latest available period
  • Acceleration or decline in recurring complaints
  • Recent praise around responsiveness, delivery and service standards
  • Material shifts in customer experience that may not yet be visible in the lifetime rating
15%

4. Category-Specific Attributes

Not every business should be judged on the same attributes. B2B Dubai adapts part of the model to the practical expectations of each sector.

  • Professional services: expertise, communication, reliability and commercial clarity
  • Logistics: timeliness, handling, tracking, consistency and issue resolution
  • Fit-out and construction: project delivery, workmanship, coordination and budget discipline
  • IT and technology: technical competence, response time, implementation quality and support
  • Recruitment: candidate quality, speed, market understanding and communication
  • Business centres: facilities, location, support, flexibility and operational reliability
10%

5. Statistical Confidence

A score is more meaningful when the underlying evidence is robust. This component helps prevent a small number of reviews from carrying the same weight as a long and stable operating track record.

  • Total number of reviews
  • Age and depth of the review history
  • Balance between recent and older feedback
  • Confidence adjustments for smaller samples
  • Potentially unusual review patterns that may warrant caution
10%

6. External Signals

Where dependable external information is available, B2B Dubai may use it as supporting evidence. These signals are supplementary and do not automatically override customer experience.

  • Relevant professional accreditations or certifications
  • Industry recognition and credible awards
  • Consistency of business information across public sources
  • Established digital presence and operational transparency
  • Other reputable sector-specific platforms, where appropriate

Why category context matters in Dubai

Dubai is a highly diverse commercial market. A legal consultancy, freight forwarder, creative agency, cleaning contractor and corporate services provider solve very different problems. Our methodology therefore keeps 85% of the scoring framework broadly comparable while allocating 15% to the attributes that matter most within the relevant category.

Final editorial filter

The algorithm shortlists. Our editorial process decides.

A high B2B Score does not automatically guarantee a featured position. The final step is designed to protect the usefulness, relevance and credibility of the directory.

What our editorial review looks for

We review shortlisted businesses with the needs of Dubai-based decision-makers in mind.

  • Clear relevance to the category in which the business is being considered
  • A credible and professional market presence
  • Evidence that the business actively serves Dubai or the wider UAE market
  • No obvious mismatch between public reputation and how the business presents its services
  • No material red flags that would make a recommendation inappropriate
  • A sufficiently strong reason for a user to consider the business

What editorial review is not

Editorial review is designed to complement objective screening, not replace it.

  • Editorial preference should not override significant quality concerns
  • One-off anecdotal opinions should not outweigh a substantial evidence base
  • Category relevance and usefulness to B2B Dubai users remain essential
  • Listings may be reviewed again if meaningful new information becomes available

Periodic reassessment

Listings may be rescored when meaningful new data becomes available.

Methodology updates

Weightings and category signals may evolve as the directory becomes more sophisticated.

Editorial accountability

A business may be removed or downgraded when material quality concerns arise.

Methodology integrity

Scoring and editorial decisions are based on the framework described on this page.

FAQ

Questions about the methodology

Does a 4.0 Google rating automatically qualify a business for B2B Dubai?

No. A rating of at least 4.0 and a minimum of 20 Google reviews only satisfy the initial qualification threshold. The business must still pass the B2B Score assessment and editorial review.

Why do you require at least 20 reviews?

Very small review samples can be highly volatile. The minimum threshold is intended to reduce noise before the scoring model applies further statistical confidence adjustments.

Can a business with fewer reviews outperform a business with hundreds of reviews?

Yes. Review volume contributes to confidence, but it is not the only measure of quality. A smaller business can still perform strongly if its reputation, consistency, recent experience and category-specific signals are excellent.

Do you analyse the text of customer reviews?

Where available and appropriate, review text may be analysed to identify recurring themes such as professionalism, communication, value, delivery, reliability and customer service. The objective is to understand patterns rather than rely on isolated comments.

Can the score change?

Yes. Businesses change, and so does the available evidence. A company may improve or decline over time, which means its score or editorial status may be updated.

Is the B2B Score a guarantee?

No directory or scoring model can guarantee a future commercial outcome. The B2B Score is a structured decision-support signal designed to help users create a stronger shortlist and conduct their own due diligence more efficiently.
